RAA25 x RAA40 | Arbitration Debates & Drinks

This year’s RAA25 x RAA40* event will take a fresh, dynamic format – live debates on hot topics in international arbitration led by well-known practitioners:

  • Should arbitration be more streamlined?
  • Should oral advocacy in arbitration be more limited?
  • Two sides. Sharp arguments. Thought-provoking exchanges. And an excellent chance to connect with colleagues and peers at the networking cocktail session after the debates.
  • The debates will bring together Matthew Page (Partner at Habib Al Mulla and Partners), Yury Babichev (Partner at ALUMNI Partners), Eva Valter (Senior Associate at Pinna Goldberg) and Oleg Volodin (Partner and Founder at Resolut).

*RAA25 and RAA40 are parts of the Russian Arbitration Association. RAA25 inspires emerging professionals to learn and grow, while RAA40 connects practitioners and academics to share experience and drive the field forward.

Choosing Your Forum: The Foreign Investor’s Enforcement Toolkit

This event will examine the key differences between onshore, offshore, and free zone jurisdictions in the region. We will explore the role of the DIFC as a “conduit court” for the enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards, and compare its approach to that of other prominent arbitration courts. The discussion will highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each option from the perspective of foreign investors.

In addition, the event will address recent trends in judicial intervention and their impact on enforcement timelines and costs. The session aims to provide practical insights for investors considering their dispute resolution and enforcement strategies in the region
